Specimen Required:

Patient Preparation: None required.

Collect: Lavender (EDTA) - 1 ml  plasma.

 

Specimen Preparation: Collect blood by venipuncture (avoiding hemolysis) into iced EDTA tube, noting the time of collection. The tubes should be immersed in a ice bath following collection. Separate the plasma from the cells by centrifuging for 10 min. in a refrigerated centrifuge, then aliquot and FREEZE immediatelly in a transfer tube. Use all appropriate PPE during collection.

Stability:  FROZEN: 1 month

Causes for Rejection : Mislabeled; broken or damaged sample; the sample w/o test request, not FROZEN.
