Specimen Required:

Patient Preparation: None required.

 

Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) - 0.5 ml serum.

 

Specimen Preparation: Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  Allow specimen to clot (15 min.) completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells by centrifuging for 10 min. Serum free from hemolysis is the recommended specimen. 

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Stability: Refrigerated 1 week, Frozen 2 weeks . Avoid repeated freezing and thawing of the specimen.

Reject Creteria: Mislabeled; broken or damaged tubes, the sample w/o test request.
