Specimen Required:

Patient Preparation: None required.

 

Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) or Plain Red - 0.5 ml serum.

 

Specimen Preparation:  Separate from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. 

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions: Grossly hemolyzed specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 1 week; Refrigerated: 3 months; Frozen: 3 months (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

At Accu: Refrigerated: 1 week, Frozen: 2 weeks
