Specimen Required:

Patient Preparation: None required

Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) - 0.5 ml serum. Serum, free from hemolysis, is the recommended specimen.

 
Specimen preparation: Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Serum free from hemolysis is the recommended specimens. Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Store serum at 2-8°C until analysis. 
    
Storage/Transport: Refrigerated

Stability: Anti-streptolysin  specimens are stable for several weeks stored at 2-8°C. For longer storage, freeze serum at <-20°C or lower.

At Accu Reference: Refrigerated -7 days: Frozen- 2 weeks

Rejection Criteria: Any sample that is mislabeled; sample without a test request; any broken or damaged tubes.
