Apolipoprotein A-1

Methodology: Quantitative Nephelometry

Reported: 1-2 days
Specimen Required: Patient Preparation: An 8 to 12-hour fast is recommended but not required. A fasting sample should minimize any possible lipemia.
Collect: Serum separator tube (SST) - 0.5 ml serum.
Specimen Preparation:  Fasting serum specimen, free from hemolysis, is the recommended specimen. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Store serum at 2-8°C until analysis.

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.  

Stability: Apolipoprotein A1 specimens are stable for 1 year when stored <-20C. 
At Accu Reference: Refrigerated- 7 days; Frozen- 1 month

Rejection Criteria: Any sample that is mislabeled; sample without a test request; broken or damaged tubes.
