Specimen Required: Collect: Gray (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate) OR Plain Red OR  Green (sodium heparin) OR Lavender (EDTA)
- 2 ml plasma or serum.
Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. 
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.
Unacceptable Conditions: Separator tubes (SST). Plasma or whole blood collected in Lt. blue (sodium citrate). Specimens exposed to repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Hemolyzed specimens.
Stability: After separation from cells: Room Temperature: 1 week;  Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 3 years
