| Specimen Required: | Collect: Green (sodium or lithium heparin) OR Plain Red - 0.5 ml plasma or serum.
Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature . Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer serum or plasma to a Standard Transport Tube and freeze immediately.
Avoid hemolysis.
Storage/Transport Temperature: CRITICAL FROZEN.
Unacceptable Conditions: Room temperature specimens. Specimens that have been refrigerated for greater than 12 hours.
Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 12 hours; Frozen: 1 month (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
