Specimen Required:

Patient Preparation: No specific requirement.

Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) - 0.5 ml.  Serum from Red Top Tube is also acceptable.

Specimen Preparation:  Follow all precautions for handling biological material. Use allappropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).  Allow specimen to clot (15 min.) completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells by centrifuging for 10 min. ​​​​​​​Specimen must be protected from light.

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Causes for Rejection : Specimen other than serum. Not light protected. Grossly hemolyzedor lipemic specimen. Specimen stored at room temperature prior to testing.

Stability: Refrigerated: 1 week ; Frozen: 1 month
