Methodology: Semi-Quantitative Serum Neutralization Assay

Specimen Required: Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Plain Red - 1 ml serum OR CSF.
Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature . Separate serum from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer serum or CSF to a Standard Transport Tube.
Parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of acute specimens. Mark specimens plainly as "acute" or "convalescent." 
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.
Unacceptable Conditions: Contaminated, hemolyzed, or severely lipemic specimens. 
Stability: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 month (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
