| Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: The patient must be fasting overnight, 12 to 14 hours.
Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red Top Tube - 0.5 ml serum.
Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer in a Standard Transfer Tube and Freeze immediately and maintain frozen until tested.
Storage/Transport Temperature: FROZEN
Causes for Rejection: Gross hemolysis; patient not fasting; specimen not received frozen; gross lipemia; plasma specimen
