Specimen Required:

Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red Top Tube OR Lavender (EDTA) OR Green (Heparin) Top Tube  - 1.5 ml serum or plasma

Patient Preparation : The patient need not be fasting.

Specimen Preparation: Serum or plasma must be separated from cells and transferred to a plastic transport tube within one hour of collection.

Transfer  serum or plasma to a Standard Transport Tube and freeze immediately. 

Storage/Transport Temperature: CRITICAL FROZEN.

Additional specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Unacceptable Conditions: Refrigerated or room temperature specimens.

Nonserum or non-EDTA plasma specimen received

Stability : After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 1 month
