Specimen Required: Collect: Red-Top Tube OR Gel-barrier Tube (SST) - 0.8 ml serum. 
Specimen Preparation: Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. If tube other than a gel-barrier tube is used, transfer separated serum to a plastic transport tube. 
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated 
Causes for Rejection:   Citrate plasma specimen; samples collected in heparin or samples from patients on heparin therapy; lipemic or hemolyzed serum samples; improper labeling 
Stability: Refrigerate: stable for three days; Frozen: stable for one month.
