Specimen Required: Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST)#2 AND Lavender (EDTA) AND Green (Sodium Heparin) AND Royal Blue (Trace Element EDTA).
Specimen Preparation: 
For Vitamin B6: Immediately separate plasma (Green) from red cells. Transfer plasma - 1 ml. to a Transport tube .Protect specimen from light. Keep refrigerated. 
Vitamin A: Protect from light SST Tube. Keep refrigerated. 
Zinc: Do not allow plasma (Royal Blue) to remain on cells. Centrifuge and pour off plasma ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer plasma - 0.5 ml.to a Transport Tube. Keep refrigerated. 
Vitamin B1: Do not separate. Transfer whole blood (Lavender) - 1 ml. to plastic transport tube and freeze. Protect from light. Blood samples should be collected before breakfast in the morning and prior to any medication. 
Vitamin C: Overnight fasting is preferred. Refrain from eating fruits and from taking vitamin C supplements 24 hours prior to collection. Allow blood (Green) to clot refrigerated. Centrifuge and pour off plasma. Transfer plasma - 1 ml. to a Transport tube and protect from light. Keep FROZEN. 
Selenium: Centrifuge (Royal Blue); do not allow serum or plasma to remain on cells. Transfer - 2 mL plasma to a Transport Tube. Keep refrigerated.
Vitamin B2: Do not separate. Transfer whole blood (Lavender) - 1.5 ml. to a transport tube and freeze. Protect from light. 
Vitamin E: Protect from light SST Tube. Keep refrigerated. 
Stability: Refrigerated : 1 week, Frozen : 1 month
