Methodology: Semi-Quantitative Indirect Fluorescent Antibody (IFA)

Specimen Required: Collect: Plain Red OR Serum Separator Tube (SST) - 1 ml serum.
Specimen Preparation: Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer  serum to a Standard Transport Tube. 
Parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of acute specimens. Mark specimens plainly as "acute" or "convalescent." 
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. 
Unacceptable Conditions:Contaminated, hemolyzed, or hyperlipemic sera. 
Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 month (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
