| Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: The patient should be instructed not to eat or drink anything except water for at least eight hours and not more than 14 hours before the test. Collect: Gray-top - 4 tubes , Gel-barrier tubes (SST) also acceptable Specimen Preparation: Draw a fasting blood sample before administering glucose. Administer a 100-gram glucose and draw blood after one hour, two and three hours. Separate serum or plasma from cells within 45 minutes of venipuncture. Gray-top tubes only, may be submitted without centrifugation. Label each tube with patient's name and collection time interval (ie, fasting, one-hour, two-hour and three hour).
