Methodology: Quantitative Nephelometry

Reported: 2-3 days
Specimen Required: Collect: CSF AND Serum Separator Tube (SST) - 1 ml. 
Serum specimen should be drawn within 48 hours of CSF collection. 
Specimen Preparation: Centrifuge and separate CSF to remove cellular material. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. 
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. 
Unacceptable Conditions: Grossly bloody or hemolyzed specimens. 
Stability: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 8 days; Frozen: 1 month (if frozen within 24 hours)
